Forkin is a small, independent EU startup. We give at least 3–10% of net revenue, depending on plan, to animal sanctuaries, wildlife & ocean conservation — and we're transparent about where every euro goes.

Core app data is hosted in the EU/EEA. Limited US-linked processors are listed in our sub-processor table with DPF/SCC safeguards. No data brokering.

No ads, ever

You are the customer, never the product. Your data is never sold or used for advertising.

How it works

How our donation programme works

    You subscribe on the web

    Mission-tier donations are processed on this site by Stripe, our European merchant of record. Stripe handles invoicing, VAT, and chargebacks.

    We allocate your donation share

    Every quarter we ring-fence the donation pool (at least 3% of Essential and 5% of Pro net revenue, at least 7–10% for mission tiers, plus 50% of every My World treat) into a separate accounting line.

    Mission members vote on the cause

    Each quarter, contributing members vote on which of three causes — animal sanctuaries, wildlife & habitat, or oceans & marine life — gets the bigger share of the pool. Votes carry 1× weight at the Supporter tier and 3× at the Champion tier.

    We publish a quarterly impact report

    Every three months we post a public report with the amount donated, the causes it went to, and a one-page summary of what the funds will support.

Where donations go

We give to three causes: animal sanctuaries, wildlife & habitat, and oceans & marine life. We work with registered non-profits across Europe whose work aligns with Forkin’s animal-welfare and sustainability mission. Every recipient runs a rescue, welfare, or conservation operation that never commercialises animals, and holds Polish OPP (Organizacja Pożytku Publicznego) status or an equivalent EU/EEA public-benefit designation, so donations qualify under Polish tax law and the Hein Persche doctrine for cross-border giving.

How we pick our partners

Before any donation is sent, we verify the recipient is a qualifying public-benefit organisation under Polish law (either a Polish OPP or an EU/EEA equivalent under the Hein Persche doctrine). We collect their current statute, confirm in writing that funds will be used for qualifying public-benefit activity, and record every transfer. We never offer reciprocal promotion in exchange for funds — donations are gratuitous, never sponsorship. We don’t publicly name a partner until an agreement is in place.

Quarterly vote

The quarterly cause vote

Each quarter, mission members vote on which of three causes — animal sanctuaries, wildlife & habitat, or oceans & marine life — gets the bigger share of the pool. The ballot runs for the full quarter; voting closes a week before quarter end and the result is announced in the impact report. Champion votes count 3×. This is not charity advice — it’s shared stewardship of a pool we all contribute to.

Mission tiers are available on the website and in the app. Web checkout usually leaves more after fees; either way, your Supporter or Champion status appears in the app after the purchase syncs.

Free users fund our mission by contributing product data — scans, submissions, and corrections improve the database for everyone.

FAQ

Common questions

Why choose the mission tier on the web?

Supporter and Champion are also available in the app, but web checkout via Stripe costs less than app-store billing. When you choose web, more of your payment remains available for the partner non-profit pool.

Is this tax-deductible?

No. Mission-tier payments are commercial subscriptions to Forkin, not direct donations from you to a charity. Forkin donates to non-profits working on animal sanctuaries, wildlife & ocean conservation after receiving payment; if you need a tax receipt, donate directly to a registered non-profit of your choice.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Manage or cancel your mission subscription from your account page. You keep access (and the badge) until the end of the current billing period.

How does the app know I’m a mission member?

When your payment is confirmed, our server records the mission tier on your account. The app reads it after the purchase syncs or the next time you sign in.

Refunds?

Stripe is our merchant of record and handles all refunds. You have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, handled exactly as described in our refund policy — the withdrawal form is at forkin.io/cancel, no login needed.

How do we verify the donations actually happen?

Every quarter we publish a public impact report with the causes funded, the amount, and a reference that you can cross-check against the recipient’s own reporting. The first report will appear one full quarter after the programme launches.

Forkin is a commercial service, not a registered charity. Mission-tier payments are subscriptions, not direct charitable donations. The percentage described on this page is of net revenue (price minus VAT and store or channel fees) and is donated by Forkin to non-profits working on animal sanctuaries, wildlife & ocean conservation. Your subscription is not tax-deductible; donate directly to a registered non-profit if you need a tax receipt.
