  • 1 tspsesame seed(optional)

Equipment

The method

Step by step

  1. 1

Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

    About 1 min

Cook’s note: Ensure the pan is hot before adding the meat for a good sear.

  2. 2

Add the ground pork to the skillet and break it apart with a spoon.

  3. 3

Cook the pork until it is fully browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.

    About 7 min

Cook’s note: Drain any excess fat if necessary, but some fat adds flavor.

  4. 4

Stir in the minced garlic and grated fresh ginger.

  5. 5

Cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.

    About 1 min

Cook’s note: Be careful not to burn the garlic.

  6. 6

Add the coleslaw mix to the skillet.

  7. 7

Continue cooking and stirring until the cabbage has softened, about 5-8 minutes.

    About 8 min

Cook’s note: Don't overcook the cabbage; it should still have a slight bite.

  8. 8

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sriracha (if using) to create the sauce.

    About 1 min

  9. 9

Pour the sauce over the pork and cabbage mixture.

  10. 10

Stir everything well to combine and heat through for 1-2 minutes.

    About 2 min

  11. 11

Remove from heat and divide into serving bowls.

  12. 12

Garnish with sliced green onion and sesame seeds before serving.
