  • 3 cupminiature marshmallow
  • 0.25 cupmargarine
  • 0.25 cupcreamy peanut butter
  • 3 cuptoasted oat cereal
  • 0.5 cupraisin
  • 0.33 cupsunflower seed, shelled

Equipment

popsicle sticks · baking pan · large pot · spatula · parchment paper · cutting board · knife

The method

Step by step

  1. 1

Line an 8x8 inch (20x20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides to use as handles.

    About 2 min

Cook’s note: Greasing the pan lightly before adding the parchment paper will help it stay in place.

  2. 2

In a large pot, melt the margarine over low heat.

    About 2 min

  3. 3

Add the miniature marshmallows and stir constantly until they are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

    About 3 min

Cook’s note: Keep the heat low to prevent the marshmallows from scorching.

  4. 4

Remove the pot from the heat.

  5. 5

Stir in the creamy peanut butter until it is fully incorporated into the marshmallow mixture.

    About 1 min

  6. 6

Add the toasted oat cereal, raisins, and sunflower seeds to the pot.

    About 1 min

  7. 7

Quickly fold everything together with a spatula until all the dry ingredients are evenly coated.

    About 2 min

Cook’s note: Work fast as the mixture will start to set as it cools.

  8. 8

Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking pan.

    About 1 min

  9. 9

Press the mixture down firmly and evenly into the pan using the back of the spatula or a piece of wax paper.

    About 2 min

Cook’s note: Lightly greasing the spatula will prevent the mixture from sticking to it.

  10. 10

Refrigerate for at least 60 minutes, or until the block is firm.

    About 1 hr

  11. 11

Use the parchment paper handles to lift the set block out of the pan and onto a cutting board.

    About 1 min

  12. 12

    Cut into 16 equal squares.

    About 2 min

Cook’s note: A large, sharp knife will give you the cleanest cuts.

  13. 13

If desired, carefully insert a popsicle stick into the base of each square to serve.

    About 2 min

Keep it good
